CEMS provided full engineering design for this new, single story 35,064 SF Child Development Center, situated on an 11.8 acre site at Joint Base Charleston. The facility encompasses child activity rooms, offices, training, conference rooms, storage, and activity rooms. Special attention was placed on integrating sustainable strategies and features to minimize energy consumption and meet LEED Certifications requirements.

Additionally, this new building involved:

  • Fire protection design
  • Removal of existing transformers and underground electrical conductors
  • A Geothermal Heat Pump heating and cooling system
  • An energy efficient lighting and control system
  • Relocation of existing electrical distribution around site
  • Design of outside plant communications system to the site, running 4,000 feet.
