ECIP (Energy Conservation Investment Program)

Fort Bragg, NC

This project was a first for Fort Bragg with the main goal to implement a variety of technologies to provide a showcase for renewable energy and energy efficiency on base.  The project included solar walls, ground source heat pumps, solar hot water panels, high efficiency lighting, and day lighting controls.  As part of the project CEMS provided SIR (Savings to Investment Ratio) calculations to validate the project met the minimum funding requirements. CEMS provided mechanical, electrical and civil design services for the buildings below:

Funk Physical Fitness Center (Building C-7215), Longstreet Physical Fitness Center
(Building C-2015), Dahl (Building M-4161), Hoskins (Building D-3856)

-   Solar walls to be installed on the south facing wall of each building.
-     HID lighting to be replaced with high efficiency T-8 high bay fixtures.
-    Solar light tubes will be added to Gym area with dimmable ballasts and day lighting controls.

Building 4-1431, Tolson Youth Center
-    HID lighting to be replaced in the Gym with T-8 Fixtures with dimmable ballasts.
-    Provided solar water panels for heating the pool.  Panels to be installed on the flat portion of roof (3,000 SF).

Building 1-1939, Army Lodging
-    Provided design and modeling of geothermal well field and piping to mechanical room for future use.
-    Building to be included in well field sizing.

 Building 1-1938 (Barracks) & Building 1-2334 (Grant Hall Barracks)
-    Designed the geothermal well field and piping to mechanical room.
-    Provided GSHP (ground source heat pumps) for HVAC and domestic water heating.
-    Provided site plan indicating well field location and routing to buildings.
-    Provided the erosion control permit.
-    Minimized disturbance to historic sidewalk, roadway, and trees.
